Siemens SIRIUS Classic vs. Sirius Modular System Comparison

Aug 28, 2019

Note for the configuration of consumer taps:

Coordination type 1 or 2:

When selecting the combinations, in many cases, you can choose between

coordination type 1 and type 2. Coordination type describes according to IEC 60947-

4-1 the damage level after a short circuit.

• Coordination type 1:

After a short circuit, the device is allowed to be inoperative. In particular, damage to

the contactor, semiconductors and overload relays is permissible

• Coordination type 2:

The starter remains functioning. It shall not cause any damage to the devices, with

the exception of contactor contact welding, if these contacts can be easily separated.

In both cases short circuit is safely shut off. Combinations of coordination type 2 are

more valueable in order to they provide a short restart time. For combinations with

half-switch control devices, the coordination type 2 analogue states that the short circuit

cut-off occurs without damage to the power semiconductors. Combinations of

coordination type 1 are generally the somewhat more cost-effective solution.

Combinations of coordination type 2 always comply with coordination type 1.
